    THE UNITED STATES AMBASSADOR TO SOUTH VIETNAM, MR. HENRY CABOT LODGE AND PRIME MINISTER NGUYEN KHANH, TOGETHER UNVEILED A PLAQUE IN MEMORY OF THE LATE AMERICAN LEADER, AT A SIMPLE CEREMONY THERE ON MAY 30.

    BEFORE THE PLAQUE WAS UNVEILED, SAIGON PREFECT, GENERAL DUONG NGOC LAM, ADDRESSED THE GATHERING PAYING TRIBUTE TO THE LATE AMERICAN PRESIDENT.

    ON THE SAME DAY, AMERICAN TROOPS IN SOUTH VIETNAM CELEBRATED MEMORIAL DAY -- IN TRIBUTE TO AMERICANS WHO HAVE FALLEN DURING THE CIVIL WAR, THE SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR, WORLD WAR I AND II AND THE KOREAN WAR.

    PRESENT AT THIS CEREMONY, HELD AT SAIGON'S TAN SON NHUT AIRPORT, WERE: PREMIER NGUYEN KHANH, AMBASSADOR HENRY CABOT LODGE, GENERAL PAUL HARKINS OF THE AMERICAN ARMY AND OTHER HIGH RANKING VIETNAMESE AND AMERICAN MILITARY OFFICERS.
