Background: Britain's Prince Charles joined High Commissioners form Commonwealth countries to celebrated Commonwealth Day in London on Friday (14 June). After a service in Westminster Abbey, the Prince went to Marlborough House in London for a garden party.
In a Commonwealth Day message, the Queen said it was a remarkable feature of the Commonwealth that it had met the challenge of contemporary developments and had managed to benefit form them.
The celebrations at Marlborough House were attended by the Commonwealth Secretary, Mr. Arnold Smith and the High Commissioners form India, Australia, New Zealand, Gambia and Botswana. Representatives of other Commonwealth nations were also present.
