Background: The two main contenders for the top of the U.K. Football League Division One, Arsenal and Leeds, were both involved in "own goal" games today (Saturday 24). Leeds, playing away to Southampton, won their game three-nil -- with a little help form one of their opponents who tapped the ball into his own net. And playing West Bromwich in an away match, Arsenal lost a point when they only managed to draw two-all -- even after being given goal by a West Bromwich player who also put the ball into his own net.
Arsenal, now heading Division One with 61 points and three games in hand, meet Leeds away on Monday (April 26). Leeds have 60 points -- one behind Arsenal -- with only two games to go.
