Background: At home, the Royal Corps Centre at bovington in Dorset celebrated its golden jubilee today by opening the camp to visitors. On parade were some of the latest armoured fighting vehicles, showing their abilities over a training ground used by the Royal Armoured Corps for fifty years.
Also on view were some of the world's earliest tanks, veterans of the first world war, showing a more snail-like case compared with the highly mobile modern vehicles.
Climax of the display was a battle, with tanks, troops and a/helicopter taking part. But all the fighting was simulated and the greatest danger seemed to be risked by some of the watching cameramen.
