Background: SYNOPSIS:In Halifax, Turkish sailors board a Canadian minesweeper, one of fourteen vessels of the Royal Canadian Navy to be transferred to the Turkish Navy. A brief ceremony in the Naval dockyard in the Nova Scotia capital marks the transfer of the last four vessels to be handed over. They're the minesweepers, Gaspe, Trinity, Ungava and Comox.
After familiarization trials on this side of the Atlantic, all fourteen ships will sail for Turkey in late April or early May. After a fine record of service for Canada they join the Turkish navy in the defence of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
