Background: Competitors for the weekend's W.D. and H.O. Wills Water Ski Internationale were busy practicing at the Ruislip Lide today (Friday).
Skiers from 13 countries will be competing in the event which will last for two days.
Attention will be focused on the American team which is led by World Overall Champion Mike Suyderhoud. They are expected to dominate the event.
Australian 1967 overall champion Colin Faulkner got in some serious training today. He was runner-up in the World Slalom Championships recently.
The only competitor from U.S.A. for the women's section is Christie freeman who is making her debut in Britain. Her speciality is a 100 feet (30.5 metres) jump.
The man who overshadowed all others in today's practice was American Alan Kempton. This 20 year old from Florida gave a fine display of his talents.
