Background: Def Min Gen. (res) Ezer Weizamann visited this afternoon installations at Allenby Bridge, the oldest crossing point across the Jordan river into the Hashemite Kingdom of the Jordan. He was accompanied by senior officers of the area incl. the OC Judea and Samaria, Brig. Gen. Hago'ell. Gen Weizman talked with tourists having arrived from Jordan and other Arab countries incl. porters working there, visited the actual bridge and got details on the procedure for crossing and then spoke to pressmen, saying that he had come to inspect the arrangements and upon my question as to West Bankers making their voices heard against the PLO, Weizmann maintained that there are not yet enough. New facilities for tourists are being prepared at Allenbu Bridge and in a couple of months they will be ready. A record number of tourists crossed into Israel during the present summer visit season.
