The electricity at Arwad.



(Arwad), the single island that possesses Syria, is a very small island near the Tortossa city on the shore of the Mediterranean Seas.



This island is very joyful this time because it has his project of electricity. It is the first time, that the electricity enter the island.



The Minister of Cities and Municipal Affairs M. Tomeh Awdout - Allah, inaugurated this project at the Anniversary of the Unity.



Many people of Tortossa arrived to the island with their Mufti (Moslem religious chief) to share the people of Arwad their joy for this opportunity.



All the people of Arwad were gathered to see the inauguration. The Minister gave a speech at this occasion.

Background: The Minister of Cities and Municipal Affairs M: Tomeh Awdout - Allah, inaugurated at the anniversary of the Unity several projects in different parts of Syria.

The village (Heretan), 84 km north east of Aleppo, in the north of Syria, was neglected. But now it has a project of electricity and a project of water to drink. The Minister accompanied with the Director of the region and the notables of the village and the peasants of Heretan and the villages around, joyfully participated to the inauguration of the two projects.

The peasants applauded the speech that the Minister gave at this occasion.

Local dances were executed by the peasant to show their joy.

The peasants cheered Pres. Nasser and the officials of the Syrian Province for all the regards they hold towards all parts of the country.
