    THE VISIT IS IN RETURN FOR ONE MADE TO WEST GERMANY TWO YEARS AGO BY THE TUNISIAN LEADER, PRESIDENT HABIB BOURGIBA...WHO WAS AT THE AIRPORT WITH HIS WIFE TO MEET PRESIDENT AND MRS. LUEBKE.

    DETACHMENTS FROM THE TUNISIAN ARMY, AIR FORCE AND NAVY MOUNTED A GUARD OF HONOUR AT THE AIRPORT FOR PRESIDENT LUEBKE TO INSPECT BEFORE HE DROVE IN PROCESSION INTO TUNIS.

    TUNISIA IS ONE OF THE ARAB STATES WITH WHICH WEST GERMANY HAS CLOSEST TIES. THE WEST GERMAN FOREIGN MINISTER, HERR WILLY BRANDT, ACCOMPANIED THE PRESIDENT, AND HE'LL JOIN IN TALKS THAT WILL CENTRE ON BONN'S INTEREST IN RESUMING NORMAL RELATIONS WITH OTHER ARAB STATES, ACCORDING TO OFFICIALS IN THE WEST GERMAN CAPITAL.

    TUNISIA WAS ONE OF THE ONLY THREE ARAB STATES THAT DID NOT BREAK OFF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH BONN WHEN THE WEST GERMAN GOVERNMENT RECOGNISED ISRAEL IN 1965. THE OTHERS WERE LIBRA AND MOROCCO.
