Background: Commander Abraham Selinger, in charge of Bureau 06 that has been gathering the evidence against Adolf Eichmann, held a news conference at Haifa, Israel, Mar 5. The Bureau is now winding up its work for Eichmann's trial, beginning April 11. Eichmann is charged with the deaths of six million Jews in Europe during World War Two.
He said the Soviet Union has not co-operated in the investigations; and displayed the documents against Eichmann, and a photographic copy of Eichmann's testimony to his police interrogators. Commander Selinger said that the various documents were now being printed into Hebrew for the court.
During his trial, Eichmann will answer the charges from a bullet-proof glass "cell" in the court-room. Proceedings will be translated into seven languages to some 230 journalists from all over the world.
