Background: These U. S. Air Force F-111A variable-wing twin jet aircraft assigned to the 4520th Combat Crew Training Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, are being used to train instructor pilots and conduct Category III testing.
The testing, includes evaluation of the F-111A weapon system and development of tactics and techniques by the Tactical Air Command (TAC). These tests are combined with initial combat crew training program and related activities now under-way at Nellis. Facilities of the fighter Weapons Center, along with experienced personnel and necessary range instrumentation, support the training activities.
