Background: Once Mr.Eshkol had asked the House for a vote of confidence for the Government presented, the floor was open for the debate.First to speak was Opposition leader Begin and last to speak was Meir Argov of the Mapai party.Whilst Mr.Begin mainly attacked Mapai for its Germany policy, Mr.Sh.Peres yesterday presented most adequately Israel's security picture and defended his attitude towards Germany.Mr.Argov defended Mapai's policy in most other fields and appealed mainly to Mapam (Labour left) to leave polemics and join the Government.Next Mr.Eshkol replied for the Government to be and then the Speaker called for the vote, in which the Government was voted in by a 63:43 vote. After that the President received the new Government and wished them success when he and the new ministers raised their glasses for a toast.
