Background: In Albania, the Labour Youth Movement began its seventh congress in the Central city of Elbassn on Monday (26 September). More than 2100 delegates attended.
SYNOPSIS: They gathered in the Metallurgical Combine -- the largest factory in the country - to listen to a series of speeches.
A report was presented by Lumturi Rexha, the first secretary of the union's central committee, urged the union to educate youth with Communist ideals and with a sound revolutionary spirit.
A message sent from the country's leader, Enver Hoxha, was also read to the delegates. Several other important members of the country's hierarchy were also present. Albania says it's been making great progress in recent years in educating its young people. Before taking up a career the older a students spend time working in factories or on collective farms. They also spent some time in production work and physical culture or military training.
