Its four-rider team finished with a total of 29 faults over the 14-obstacle course in Rome's Siena Square arena, with France taking second place in the six-nation event on 36 points. Despite a good clear round by Captain Ned Champion, the three-rider Irish team failed to de better than third place.
The cup for the Best Horse of the Year was presented to Italian rider Piero d'Inzeo.
