Background: The French Government's intention to resume peace talks with Algerian F.L.N. representatives is indicated by the fact that the Chateau d'Allamen to Lugrin, near Evian, is being renovated at great expense to accommodate the French delegation when the present period of suspension is over.
Previously spread over a wide are in and around Evian, the whole French delegation will be housed at the Chateau. The extent of the renovation suggests that French expects the resumed talks to continue for a long time.
At the initiative of the French delegation - heeded by M. Louis Jaxe - the talks were suspended June 13 for "10 to 15 days". Before returning to funis, M. Belkacem Kris, leader for the Algerian (FLN) nationalist delegation to the talks said the FLN was ready to resume the talks at any time. "We want peace in Algeria- a negotiated peace", he said.
