Background: An air force unit of the Chinese People's Liberation Army shot down a U.S. imperialist a-3B heavy attack plane over Leichow Peninsula in Kwangtung Province on the afternoon of April 12.
The aircraft intruded into China's air space at about 13:00 hours from southeast of Hainan Island in Kwangtung Province. It then crossed the Hainan Strait and intruded deep into China's air space over Leichow Peninsula to carry out military provocations. In order to safeguard China's sovereign rights, Chinese aircraft shot the enemy plane down.
On the afternoon of April 16, the victory of the downing of the enemy plane was celebrated at a meeting held by an air force unit of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Kwangtung Province.
An order from Vice-Premier and Minister of National Defence, Lin Piao, commending the air force unit is read out by Lung Tao-chuan, a leading personnel of the PLA air force stationed in Canton.
Tsao Li-huai, Deputy Commander of the PLA air force and Lung Tao-chuan, give awards to the unit and to the commanders and fighters who distinguished themselves in the action.
Tsao Li-huai warns the U.S. aggressors: 'The Chinese people are not to be bullied and the Chinese territorial air is inviolable. We are fully prepared to deal with any U.S. imperialist provocation. If the U.S. gangsters dare to invade, we will fight them resolutely.'
Ying Lin-ping, member of the Chinese Communist Party Secretariat in Kwangtung Province and Yen Fu-sheng, a leading personnel of the PLA stationed in Canton address the meeting.
