Background: These days the 28th World Table Tennis Championships is held in the beautiful town of Ljubljana, the capital of the Socialist Republic of Slovenija.
For this unique opportunity, a great new Hall of Sports has been built. It is located at Celovska cesta, on the foothills of Sisenski hrib, between Bellevue Hotel and Museum of National Liberation. Outside dimensions of the Hall are 106 x 90 meters. There are two halls in the building. For the requirements of SPENT the dimensions of the bigger hall as playing grounds are 34,80 meters of width, 70 meters of length and 11,5 meters of height. The both halls are kept at a constant temperature of 15????C. The big hall for SPENT has a total of 6738 seats or 8078 stands and 2699 seats respectively, i.e. a maximum of 11.000 spectators can be accommodated.
On the first day of TTWC a ceremonial was held in the big new Ljubljana's Sports Hall. A short gymnastic programme was followed by three short speeches. The speeches were held by Mitja Ribicic, the President of the Organising Committee of the 28th World Table Tennis Championships, Mr. Ivor Montagu, the President of the International Table Tennis Federation and Mica Nonkovic, the President of Yugoslav Table Tennis Federation.
