Background: Bangladesh leaders and hundreds of well-wishers called on the wife of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at her home in DACCA on Saturday (8 January) to offer their congratulations on the Sheikh's release form imprisonment in Pakistan.
The 51-year-old Bengali leader, was not due back in Dacca till Monday, after visits to London and Delhi.
Among those at the Shekh's home on Saturday were the Chief of the self-styled republic of Bangladesh Colonel Osmani, and Bangladesh Acting President Naram Islam, who made a moving speech calling for Sheikh Mujib to take over the leadership of the nation.
