President Jean-Bedel Bokassa of the Central African Republic arrived in Boon, West Germany, on Tuesday (7 August) at the start of an official four-day visit.

Background: President Jean-Bedel Bokassa of the Central African Republic arrived in Boon, West Germany, on Tuesday (7 August) at the start of an official four-day visit.
In the absence of the West German President Dr. Heinemann, President Bokassa was greeted at the airport by Herr Spangenberg, Chief Aide to Dr. Heinemann.
President Bokassa was guest of honour at an official luncheon given by the Bavarian State Premier Alfons Goppel.
Later in the day President Bokassa had talks with the West German Chancellor Herr Willy Brandt. According to a statement from the office of the Chancellor the two leaders discussed the political situation in Africa and problems of economic cooperation between their two countries.
During the course of his visit President Bokassa will be visiting a West German army combat training school, the Krupp engineering works and the telecommunications section of the West German Technical Museum.
In addition to his talks with Government leaders, President Bokassa will also be holding talks with West German businessman.
