Background: PARIS, June 14th: President de Gaulle returned to Paris today after a four-day tour of Picardy, Northern France. This was the French President's 21st provincial tour since coming to power and fears that his prostate gland operation two months ago would restrict his activities were banished by the General's vigour during the tour. Yesterday he visited Montdidier, Creil and Beauvais and at one stage he was caught in a violent thunderstorm. Although he had no hat, umbrella and raincoat, he insisted on going through with the arrangements.
With the temperature in the nineties, the 73-year-old President made 15 village halts, shaking thousands of hands, gave four major speeches and then attended a banquet.
