The Soviet TV correspondents interviewed The Afghan Minister of Defence Major-General Rafi.
Corr. Sir, I would like to begin interviewing with the question - How are you?
Minister: I am in front of you and you yourself can judge about my state of health, by the way, I know why you are asking me this question but I want you to tell me the reason of it.
Corr: I am asking because you have probably heard that some radio stations have informed recently, you were heavy wounded in your own study.
Minister: I am quite all right, my dear friend. I work every day for 12 hours and I think that it proves about nice state of health.
Corr: You know, to my mind, it is enough to look at you to make sure you are all right. And now may be close to the point. My first question to is - how has the situation in Afghanistan changed for the last half a year?
Minister: I would like to answer this question having a map of the country in front of me. We had a lot of problems 6 months ago, many counter-revolutionary gangs penetrated to the territory of the country from abroad. The gangs violated normal life in a number of regions in the Republic. But we managed to defeat the most strong formations. The Afghan People's Army managed to gain considerable victories due to all-round support rendered by the Soviet Union, due to skilled help of the Soviet military experts, who consult our troops. The Afghan People's Army today is strong enough to have the inner situation in the country under control. And that is the basis of normalization of all sides of life of our people.
