Background: India and the Socialist Republic of Rumania signed an agreement to exchange information on economic planning on Saturday (January 12).
The agreement was signed int eh Indian capital, new Delhi, by Rumanian Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Manea Manescu, and India's Minister for Planning, Mr. Dhar, who's also Vice Chairman of the Indian Planning Commission.
Mr. Manescu -- the Chairman of Rumania's State Planning Committee -- led a delegation of high-ranking officials to New Delhi to seek the agreement on economic planning.
Under the agreement, both India and Rumania will set up study groups which will meet to exchange information on economic forecasting and the planning of developments in the two countries.
Indian officials said the agreement was open-ended, without limits on the size and scope of the study groups.
Mr. Manescu also held talks in New Delhi with the Indian President, Mr. V. V. Giri, and the Indian minister for Heavy Industries, Mr. T.A.Pai.
