    Frenchman Alain Prost drove his McLaren to victory in the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort on August 26, narrowing the gap between himself and teammate Niki Lauda in the World Championship to just one and a half points.The Austrian took second place behind Prost as the two McLaren drivers dominated the race.Prost went into the lead after Nelson Piquet of Brazil stopped with engine trouble in his Brabham after only eleven laps.Lauda closed the gap between the Frenchman and himself to just 1.3 seconds on the 26th lap, but Prost set a searing pace from then on to open up a comfortable lead.Nigel Mansell of Great Britain, who drove a superb race in his Lotus after starting in 12th place on the grid, took third spot.Prost, who won the race with a margin of 10.2 second to spare, had relinquished his lead in the championship after crashing in the Austrian Grand Prix on August 19.Lauda took advantage to win in his homeland and open a lead at the top of the table.Prost's Dutch victory gives him a total of 52 and a half points, behind Lauda with 54 points.
