Background: M. Konan Bedie, President of the African and Malagasy Industrial Property Office, reported to the organisation's Ministerial Council that 1969 had been a boom year for O.A.M.P.I.
M. Bedie, the Ivory Coast's Finance Minister, told the Council's ninth session-- which opened in Fort Lamy on Thursday July 24 -- that receipts from technical services and from the Office's trade mark registration had risen by 18.7 per cent and by more than 60 per cent respectively in 1969 compared with the previous year.
O.A.M.P.I., a specialised body of the Organisation Commune Africaina et Malagache (OCAMM), is concerned with patents, trade marks and industrial design and models in its members states.
Delegates from the 12 member countries -- Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, Dahomey, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Niger, Senegal, Togo and Upper Volta -- attended the meeting at Party Headquarters.
