Background: In Jutland, Denmark, is an unusual type of museum. It was begun fifty years ago by a Danish dairy magnate for the purpose of displaying various types of old Danish farm buildings.

The founder, Mr. Hjerl, began with a farm of 1716, but there are now 16 old buildings at the open-air museum. They have been built by methods dating from begone times, and as a new exhibit is built for the museums collection, clay for brick making is kneaded in a mixing vessel operated by a harnessed bull walking round it in a circle.

Ancient tools only are used by the builders, and the kiln for making the bricks is fired by means of a rifle shot.

Tourists have a rare opportunity of watching the ancient crafts of building as they were practised years ago, and can also see at the Museum an ancient penny-farthing bicycle, Vikings' thatched huts and a canoe cut from a tree trunk.
