Background: Here is film of a family who left Sydney Harbour yesterday (31st) in a homemade yacht to sail round the world. The big steel yacht "Cythera" of fifty feet, was completed just over a year ago, by its owner Mr. Peter Fenton of Clontaf.
Mr. Fenton plans a leisurely cruise, calling first at Lord Howe Island, then on to New Zealand and South Africa. His wife, Pat and eight year old Penny are accompanying him.. plus four budgerigars.
There are two other crew members, Ric Brewin the sailing master, and the forward hand Dan Barrie.
The Fenton family and crew had a big send off at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia yesterday.
Their round the world cruise will keep them away from Australia for an indefinite period.
