MALLARD: "Walter Wolf, the American Penske team has just left the Grand Prix circuit, Hesketh went out of the circuit -- what has made you decide to join what has become a very expensive family?"

WALTER WOLF: "I came in because basically...originally I liked it, I like motor sport, I'm involved in carbons to a certain extent, I've always wanted to drive a racing car myself, and I'm associated with the oil industry, and car industry -- I decided I will have a racing team and also prove it, that what everybody thinks is impossible, to win the championship, I will try to win it, and try to win it under a Canadian flag which never had a winning team but which has never had a team."

MALLARD: "Now you have one driver who came third in the world championship last season, and one car. You could be accused of dipping your toe in to see what the climate is like. How do you react to this?"

WOLF: "Well, I could be accused, ja. You know, I've been associated with motor sport last year as I told you, and I didn't dip the toe in the water, you know. We had a catastrophe. I went on my own this year; I took a driver which has a potential of winning, which is in my estimation one of the best in the world. I will have a second car when the team, and the back-up for the second car, when the team is ready, capable to handle a two-man, two-driver team with two cars, because you know it's a matter only of the financial angle but what's much harder is getting the people together the team really going, a development programme, and keep two cars on the track."

MALLARD: "So you seriously intend to make this more than a one-season challenge?"

WOLF: "There's no question about it. I mean, I have a long-term contract with my driver and with the management of that team."

    MALLARD: "Walter, thank you."
