S/V competitor answering questions from reporters
    82 ft

TRANSCRIPTS: They're pretty rough - when we blew the rudder, it was blowing around 50-58 apparent which really was very rough, very high seas. It was just totally unexpected conditions, it just happened...

....very disappointed, we were the lead boat going in. ??? Colbeys boat was lying third, I think, going into the Fastnet, and we thought we had a great chance of bringing the cup back home.....

....well it just snapped. This is a carbon fibre rudder which is a very lightweight material - a new material. But it is now proving to be totally unreliable. I think it's generally accepted that there's got to be a general rethink about it....

...We have a tremendous crew. The one thing I picked was a good crew. At no time was there any question of us really being in danger. It was rough, it was not nice, but we were always safe.
