Background: North Perry Airport, Broward County, Florida, was reminiscent of a world war two scene Mar 21 after a tornado had swept through, leaving thirteen destroyed and badly damaged aircraft in its wake.
A veteran of the last war, and an owner of one of the wrecked aircraft, said he saw the "twister" approaching but was powerless to protect his aircraft as it stood on the tarmac. He said the ensuing roar of the storm sounded like a squadron of low flying jets.
While a VISNEWS cameraman was filming the damage, a second tornado struck destroying three more aircraft and damaging many more.
Damage at the airport and surrounding area is estimated to be between 150,000 and 200,000 dollars.
