    ON HAND TO BRIEF MR. HOLT ON CURRENT SITUATION WAS MAJOR PETER NORMAN TEDDER, COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE 105 FIELD BATTERY. EARLY HITS MONTH, MAJOR TEDDER WAS ACQUITTED BY A COURT MARTIAL ON A CHARGE OF HAVING ONE OF HIS SOLDIERS HANDCUFFED TO A STAKE IN A WEAPONS PIT.

    MR. HOLT, THE FIRST ALLIED GOVERNMENT CHIEF TO VISIT EMBATTLED VIETNAM, WATCHED AN ARTILLERY DEMONSTRATION.

    CONTINUING HIS VISIT TO AUSTRALIAN TROOPS IN THE FIELD. MR. HOLT WINGED HIS WAY TO VUNG TAU, ABOUT 40 MILES SOUTHEAST OF SAIGON. THE HEAVILY ARMED HELICOPTER FLEW OVER KNOWN VIETCONG AREAS GIVING MR. HOLT A BIRD'S EYE VIEW OF THE VICINITY. THE PURPOSE OF THIS VISIT WAS TO SEE FOR HIMSELF AN AUSTRALIAN AIR FORCE TRANSPORT UNIT WHICH IS PLAYING A VITAL ROLE IN THE QUICK TRANSPORTATION OF ALLIED TROOPS TO BATTLE AREAS.

    THE GROUNDED PLANES ARE CARIBOUS MECHANICS WENT ABOUT THEIR WORK UNPERTURBED WHILE MR. HOLT BOARDED A CARIBOU TO FIND OUT HOW COMFORTABLE IT IS INSIDE.
