    FIRST MAN ON THE VELOCETTE WAS GEORGES MONNERET - HE SET OFF ROUND THE CIRCUIT AT HIGH SPEED AT 0935 HOURS.AND BEFORE THE LEAD TROUBLE BEGAN TO SHOW, THE REAM IS MR BERTIE GOODMAN, 43-YEAR-OLD SALES DIRECTOR OF THE BIRMINGHAM VELOCETTE MOTORCYCLE COMPANY AND SON OF ITS FOUNDER.IN 1961 MR GOODMAN WAS ONE OF A TEAM THAT RODE A 500 c.c.MACHINE AT N AVERAGE OF 100.05 MILES AND HOURS FOR 24 HOURS - THE FIRST MOTORCYCLE EVER TO ACHIEVE THIS.
