Background: One of Paris' leading fashion designers, Nina Ricci, presented her 1979 and 1980 autumn and winter collections over the weekend (15 July). Fashion experts from all over the world have gathered to view the latest trends.
SYNOPSIS: Miss Ricci's collection here displayed on the streets of Paris, was full of contrast. She had put the emphasis this season on comfort. Here Celine is wearing a elegantly-cut bright blue tufted woollen suit with a flared skirt for easy movement which should appeal to the businesswoman. The black satin hat is studded with jewels which are particularly in vogue this year, and the ensemble is set off by a black ??? muff.
Furs figure prominently in this season's collection despite growing campaign y animal lovers to halt the fur trade. Here Susan is sporting a loose beaver coat along with a green jumper and grey woollen slacks...ideal for casual wear.
For the more adventurous a vivid fuchsia pyjama suit in crepe de chine with hose-pipe trousers. The slashed tunic is embroidered round the neck and the simple but striking outfit is int tune with what's been labelled as with the disco-look.
For the cooler evenings Miss Ricci has proposed a sophisticated version of the peasant-style dress. Here Celine is wearing a silk taffeta blouse with a plain mauve skirt covered by a taffeta apron interwoven with gold thread. While Miss Ricci's collection is in keeping with current trends the basis interpretation is uncluttered and tailored designs. Though not seen as revolutionary this will no doubt be a big-seller to her sophisticated clientele.
