Background: The Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, arrived in Tunis on Wednesday (September 12) for an official visit to Tunisia.
The Kuwait leader was welcomed at the airport by President Habib Bourguiba.
The Middle East situation and the use of oil resources to influence political developments were expected to be among the main topics for discussion between the two leaders.
During his stay the Amir visited the Holy City of Kairouan. On Friday (September 14) he was due to address the Tunisian National Assembly and had a second round of talks with President Bourguiba.
Last month the Sultan of Oman, Qaboos Bin Said visited Tunisia and told journalists that Arab countries could review their attitude on the question of delivery of oil to nations who are not favourable to the Arab cause.
In July President Bourguiba was active in trying to secure a Middle East settlement. The President announced that if Israel agreed to his proposals he would call an Arab Summit Conference to discuss the matter and ensure Arab unanimity. But he added that Israel's attitude was not promising.
