Background: Carlos Pace of Brazil clocked the fastest time in the first practice rounds for the Belgian Grand prix when, on Friday (23 May), he piloted his Brabham around the Zolder circuit in one minute 25.47 seconds.
This gave him an average speed of 179.51 kilometres per hour (111.53 mph.).
Niki Lauda of Austria in the new Ferrari 312 came in second with a time of 1:25.74.
The Belgian Grand Prix is the sixth round in the 1975 World Championship. Pace's ??? Cmerson Fittipaldi currently leads the championship table with Pace runner up.
SYNOPSIS: Formula One racing... and with the Belgian Grand Prix only two days ahead drivers were out in force on the Zolder circuit on Friday for the first practice session. They included Carlos Pace...who eventually clocked fastest time, and Britain's james Hunt in the Hesketh.

South African driver Jody Scheckter's wife, Pam, was time-keeping for him. The Zolder circuit hasn't been used for two years. In 1973 the surface began to break up during the Grand Prix causing many crashes. Since then the Track has been remodelled. Niki Lauda finished second on the practice time sheets.
Carlos Pace finished top of the table. He'll be looking to overtake Fittipaldi in the race for the world championship title in the sixth race of the series at Zolder on Sunday.
