Background: During a six-day visit to Pakistan, Chinese Vice-Premier Li Hsien-nien and his delegation visited a heavy engineering factory outside Rewalpindi on Tuesday (22 April).

The Plant was built with Chinese technical and financial assistance. It has so far produced road rollers, sugar plants, railway material, low pressure package type boilers, travelling cranes, jeeps, bulldozers and an assortment of heavy equipment.

The project, described by the Chinese as "the flower of Sino-Pakistan friendship", went into production in 1971.

The Chinese Vice-Premier had what he described as fruitful talks with the Pakistani Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in Islamabad on strengthening bilateral relations.

Mr. Li said the two countries enjoyed deep friendship and mutual understanding. He added: "They will continue to add bricks to this edifice of friendship to make it more splendid and magnificent."
He also stressed the need for unity against imperialism and hegemony among "Third World" countries.
