    "The Celtics listed Cowens as a doubtful starter. He was hospitalised Tuesday with muscle spasms in his back...but he recovered well enough to destroy the knicks. In the first period alone, Cowens scored ten points as Boston built up an eighteen-point lead. Cowen's stats for the night -- twenty-four points and nineteen rebounds. Coach Tommy Hineson said he didn't know himself if Cowens would play until half an before game time. Cowens wasn't the entire story for the Celtics. They had seven players in double figures in winning their seventeenth game in the past twenty-one . John points add Boston increased its Atlantic as Boston lead to four and a half games. The loss was New York's third in row and dropped the Knicks four games under the five-hundred mark. Their leading scorer was Earl Monroe with twenty points. Bill Bradley was held to just two. It was Boston's fourth straight win over New York...Paul Westfall helped out with fourteen points. The Knicks got just two points from Walt Frazier as they fell two and a half points behind Houston in the battle for wildcard playoff sport.
