    Background: When the Swedish oil tanker "St. Gobain" exploded in a shipbreaking yard at Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland on October 15, one man was killed and four others injured.

    Men working on a ship next to the tanker received the full force of the blast.

    In the fire that followed the explosion, flames reached a height of the hundred feet.

    Fireman from all parte of Fife fought the blase and the quayside was cordoned off in case of a further explosion, but such damage was done to the tanker before the fire was brought under control.
