"In the opinion of the Chinese delegation, the Security Council must sternly condemn the Rhodesian white-racist regime for its outrage against the Zimbabwe people and its blackmail and provocations against Zambia, and ask it to stop the above crimes immediately. The Council must strongly condemn the white racist regimes of Rhodesia and South Africa and the Portuguese colonialists for their criminal collusion to suppress the national liberation movement in Zimbabwe and stop up the policy of racial segregation and demand that the South African troops and police immediately withdraw from Rhodesia. The Security Council must further strengthen its sanctions against Rhodesia and extend them to cover South Africa and the Portuguese colonialists and call upon the Governments of all countries to give acts of support to the Zambian Government and further support and assistance to the Zimbabwe people's just struggle."
Here follows a transcript of Mr. Joseph Odero-Jowi's SOUND ON FILM statement to the Security Council.
"I must say that fighting and bloodshed have long been predicted as the inevitable outcome of apartheid and blinkered refusal to acknowledge African political aspiration and because independence movement cannot at any time be stopped... and also Mr. President, the guerrillas have shown that they'll fight and have carried their fight and the shooting war to the borders of Rhodesia. And because of all the totality of this development, one of these days Mr. Smith will find himself faced with the totality of opposition of the African States. This situation must be defused. Britain must intervene by force to help stop this bloodshed."

Background: The People's Republic of China has urged the United Nations Security Council to reinforce economic sanctions against Rhodesia and also to apply them against South Africa and Portugal. The Chinese Ambassador to the U.N., Mr. Chuang Yen, was speaking on Tuesday (Jan 30) in the second day of the Debate over the crisis caused by Rhodesia's closure of the border with Zambia.
Other nations also condemned Rhodesia during the second day of the debate. They included Kenya whose delegate, Mr. Joseph Odero-Jowi, called on Britain to intervene with force. Mr. Odero-Jowi said the Rhodesian action would not stop the guerrillas.
