Background: The Palestine Liberation Organisation on Thursday (16 March) asked the Arab League to expel Jordan. It also wants a political and economic boycott of the kingdom.

The demands by the Liberation Organisation follow King Hussein's announcement of a plan to form a federal state consisting of two partly-autonomous regions, one on each side of the River Jordan.

The Palestine Liberation Organisation told the conference that borders between Jordan and Syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia should be closed. It says Jordan is an accomplice in a conspiracy hatched by Israel against the Arab nation.

SYNOPSIS: A meeting in Cairo on Thursday of the Arab Loague -- and the major point of discussion: King Hussein's newly-announced plan to set up a federal stats in Jordan. The king's plans call for two partly-autonomous states - one of them to be the present Israeli-occupied West Bank of the River Jordan.

The delegates heard angry demands from the Palestine Liberation Organisation for the expulsion of Jordan from the Arab Loague. Further, the organisation demanded political and economic boycotts against Jordan.

As the organisation representatives left the meeting, the delegates considered their suggestion that the borders between Jordan and syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia should be closed.

The delegates were told that in the view of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, Jordan is an accomplice in a conspiracy hatched by Israel against the Arab nation.

After the meeting, the Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organisation in Cairo, Gamel El Sorani, spoke to newsmen and told them of his organisation's distaste for King Hussein's proposals. The organisation believes King Hussein's project disguises a deal with Israel.
