Background: Prime Minister Forbes Burnham of Guyana was accorded a warm welcome when he arrived at Freetown on Monday (17 September 1973) on a 24-hour State Visit to Sierre Leone. Large crowds cheered him as his plane landed at Lungi International Airport, where he was greeted by Vice President and Prime Minister Sorie Ibrahim Koroma.

At a meeting later with President Siaka Stevens, Mr. Burnham said he looked forward to greater co-operation between the two countries.
