SYNOPSIS: Old Trafford, the home ground of Manchester United, where the club's new manager Tommy Docherty received a prolonged and vocal welcome on Saturday when he appeared for the first time in his official capacity after replacing Frank O'Farrell.
Manchester United....in the dark jerseys attacking Leeds United from the left...have not done well this season and have been struggling to avoid relegation to the second division Ted McDougal gave them fresh heart, though, with this scoring shot which had been set up by winger Willie Morgan. To the delight of the crowds Manchester United led at half-time, but ended with a one-all draw.
Meanwhile, at Stanford Bridge in London, Chelsea were at home to Everton.....seen defending on the left in the lighter jerseys. Both teams mounted repeated attacks, but with only one minute of play left, the game seemed destined to end in a goal-less draw. This Chelsea corner came to nothing but Everton, after scrambling in front of the Chelsea goal, got the ball to Jeo Harper who scored. At this stage an Everton win seemed inevitable, but within 40 seconds Chelsea provided the large home crowd with a nail-biting finish. After a break down the left by Hudson, the ball came to Hutchinson who beat the Everton keeper, to draw the game one-nil all.
