Background: The military situation in Greece and Cyprus, in connection with the Cyprus problem and the race-turkish relations has been discussed this morning during a high level conference at the Greek Army G.H.Q., presided over by the President of the Republic, General Phaedon Gizikis. The conference was also attended by Premier Karamanlis, Minister of National Defense Evangelos Verof, Minister of Public Security Solon Gikas, the Armed Forces Chief General Gregorios Bonanos, the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Airforce. This top lever meeting is the latest in a serious between politicians and military leaders since Constantine Karamanlis was recalled from Paris to head an all-civilian government after the military government stepped down july 24.
