Background: A group of 27 Chileans flew from Santiago to Venezuela on thursday (13 February) to begin new lives as political exiles. they had been freed from prison by the ruling military junta on the condition that they live abroad.
Venezuela agreed to accept the group, which includes former agriculture Minister Jaime Toha and other supporters of the deposed Salvador Allende Government. But several of the exiles will be moving on to live in other countries.
One of the released prisoners, former-Senator Anselmmo Sule, told reporters he had been well treated in prison, and understood that other Allende supporters were also receiving good treatment.
