What about the poltergeist theory?
And what is a poltergeist, anyway?
You've been out there and talked with the people concerned. What do you think it is, Maurie?

Background: SYNOPSIS: (LESCOULIE)
Early last month, in a house on Long Island, members of the German family began to experience a series of strange phenomena. Bottles and figurines and even a small phonograph took off on abort flights from their usual resting places...sometimes smashing to pieces on the floor. There seemed to be no natural explanation for the strange happenings...despite intensive investigation.
Today reporter Maurie Robinson spent two days with the Hermans to get further details...and here he is with his report.
The locale is Seaford, Long Island...one of these communities that have grown like wildfire since the war. Here, on land that was once a truck farm, the Hermans bought a small house, part of a development put up five years ago.
Since the disturbance began three weeks ago, there's been a flood of sail from all over the country.
(MARKS ON SECRETARY)
And Mrs. Herman then showed me the scars on a secretary in the living room.. scars left by flying figurines...apparently hurled with considerable force.
Lucille is thirteen; her brother, Jimmy, is a year younger.
(PAN FRONT OF HOUSE AND THERMAL CAP)
Dozens of reporters and photographers have flocked to the Herman house since these occurrences first began. Here you can see the thermal cap on the chimney...installed to eliminate down-drafts. There have been tests for earth vibrations and supersonic waves, too..all with no results.
But these young science students have made a study of magnetic deviations around the house...and theorize that there may be significant anti-gravity forces involved.
But this does not explain objects in violent flight. No explanation, either, from Dr. J. Geither Prat...of the famous parapsychology laboratory at Duke University.
The doctor is cautions.... and points out that much study and analysis of evidence is required.
The Parapsychology Laboratory is where Doctor Rhine does his work in extra-sensory perception, isn't it?
