Background: The French Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, M. de Lipkowski, on Friday (28 Jan) had a meeting in Athens with leading Greek officials, including the Alternate Foreign Minister, Mr. Christian Xanthopoulos-Palamas.
Afterwards, the Greek minister told newsmen that Greece and France hold identical views on many topics -- including the situation in the Mediterranean, the Middle East and the Balkans.
M. de Lipkowski is on a three-day visit to Greece. He also called at the Herod Atticus Mansion in Athens and met the Regent, General Zoetakis.
It's the first time a French minister has visited Greece since the Army took power in 1967.
