Background: Thousands of marchers from all over Italy took part in a massive anti-fascist demonstration in Rome on Sunday.
The demonstration was organised by the Rome Centre of Anit-Fascist Committees, and had the support of Italy's major political parties--the Christian Democrats, Socialists, Social Democrats, and the Communists. Its aim was to protest against what the organisers term repressive fascism, and to appeal for press freedom and more powder for trade unions and workers.
The demonstration culminated in a rally in the Plaza Del People (People's Square)
