BEGIN: (SEQ 3) No problem with the timing whatsoever. I would like you to know that in all the three weeks that Mr. Habib was here or wasn't here.. at every opportunity, I stressed all the time that we may wait for a while with our operations against these Syrian missiles placed in Lebanon. But we cannot wait as far as the fight against the terrorist is concerned. If we do not take the initiative and carry out preventive attacks against them, they will kill our men, women and children. It is our experience since we took over the initiative, they do not intrude our country any more and do not hurt our people.
ABU SHARA: (SEQ 6) Israel announced yesterday by its air rids that the main problem is with the Palestinians, it is not with the missiles. The problems of the missiles..is irrelevant to the Palestinian one. So, we expect more air raids.

Background: INTRODUCTION: In two raids into Lebanon on Thursday (28 May) Israeli jets struck at a Palestinian camp and a mobile missile carrier near the town of Damour, while in the second raid, Israeli commandoes landed from the sea to attack a Palestinian road convoy. Israeli Prime Minister Menachim Begin defended the actions, while in Beirut, Syrian Foreign Minister Kaddam arrived for urgent talks on the raids, which broke a month-long undeclared truce.
SYNOPSIS: In a hospital in the lebanese town of Damour, civilians and children count the cost of the unending conflict between Israel and opposing forces inside Lebanon. Israeli jets struck a Libyan-manned mobile rocket launcher near the town and claim to have destroyed it. Meantime, in Jerusalem, Israeli prime Minister Begin defended the raid, which called an end to an undeclared truce that had lasted for a month.
Following the success of their air raid against the newly deployed Libyan missiles, Israeli forces landed a commando unit from the sea to attack a Palestinian convoy just south of Beirut. Reports said two people were killed in the raid....adding to the 30 people killed in the three-hour air raid in the same are. Majed Abu Shara, head of the United Information Bureau of the palestine Liberation Organisation called the attacks barbarism.
Immediately after the Israeli attacks, Lebanese Foreign Minister Fuad Butros was in urgent talks with Syria's Foreign Minister Abdel-Halim Kaddam to discuss the outbreak of fighting which had come only 24 hours after the departure of United States special envoy Philip Habib. After the meeting Mr. Kaddam said that a meeting would be called of Arab Foreign Ministers to discuss the latest crisis.
