    Background: The first hard leg of the London Sydney marathon got over as the rally cars starting checking in a Madras control. Some of the cars arrived in Madras at least eight hours ahead of time late at night on 26th and early hours 27th. Zasada from Poland is still leading the rally while a total of 45 cars are still in the run. At Madras control after necessary entries the cars will be loaded onto ship for onwards journey to Penang from where they again resume road run. Car 45 driven by Paddy Hopkirk is still the leading Australian entry and is placed at No. 5. Cowan at place 3 and driving car 33 is doing well for Britain.
