Background: The first contingent of Nigerian troops replace british Commandos in Tanganyika, arrive in the capital Dar-es-salaam yesterday (Tuesday). They'll take over peace keeping duties from the British troops sent for during January when men of the Tanganyika Rifle mutinied.)
The contingent, numbering twenty officers and men, will act as the advance party for the rest of the force.

The decision to use Nigerian troops in Tanganyika has allowed Britain to withdraw the Commando force, sent from the strategic reserve during the spate of army mutinies in East Africa during January.
