Background: A nine man all British expedition successfully climbed himalayas one of the most difficult hitherto unscaled peak, 25680 ft nuptse, the smallest of the magnificent trinity of everest, 1hotse and nuptse. Two sherpas and four of the britons got to the summit in two lots on two days - may 16 and 17. The first success was achieved by dennis davis and sherpa tasi. The second by chris bonington, leslei brown, and dr jim swallow and a sherpa.

Nuptse is the natural great wall that hides everest from human view even from namohebazar. British success was immediately described as a magnificent climbing considering the difficulties involved in climbing this mountain.
